Today, even in Kiev, very few people know that in the late 19th and first half of the 20th century Yevbaz – the name by which Yevreiskiy Bazaar – or Jewish Bazaar was known - was one of the most famous districts of the city. A bustling neighborhood with a large market at one end and the train station at the other, it was home to Jewish scientists and street hustlers, market vendors and loving grandmothers, an area filled with noise and activity. A collection of select poems written over the course of 50 years: the first - in 1955, the last - in 2005 – reflecting on a childhood spent in Yevbaz. Several earlier poems were published in the periodical press in the USSR.
