More than a century-old history of BELTA is told in photographs. It all began in 1918, when the Belarusian branch of the Russian Telegraph Agency was opened in Minsk. Its first employees were self-taught enthusiasts. Now BELTA is the largest news agency in the republic. It broadcasts in seven languages, and the website coverage exceeds 200 thousand visits per day.
"We are writing the history of our country - in photographs, now very actively in video. We write it in articles, in notes, in longreads and, just like you, we are very concerned about what is happening in our country," said BELTA Director General Irina Akulovich.
"BELTA occupies a leading position on the media market, providing objective, reliable transmission of information, covering events about the development of the country, events that take place in Belarus and abroad. Millions trust the BELTA news agency," said Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich.
A book was published for the anniversary, and videos about the country’s oldest and largest news agency are shown on city screens.
