The monograph examines the spatio-temporal changes in the climate of Belarus. Special attention is paid to the analysis of temperature, precipitation and evaporation during the period of instrumental observations. The shift of global warming in the current century to the second half of the year (VII-XII) was established, while in the first part of the development of warming it was more pronounced in January-April. Possible reasons for the identified feature in the nature of climate change are considered.
The role of land reclamation in changing the local and regional climate of Polesie is discussed. Model estimates of the impact of local evaporation on average values and long-term changes in precipitation in Belarus and neighboring countries are presented, which allowed to separate the contributions of local evaporation and global factors in changes in precipitation. On the basis of the conducted researches recommendations on improvement of local and regional climatic conditions of the south of Belarus are developed.
Climate-related changes in the bioproductivity of terrestrial ecosystems of Belarus and their possible causes are considered.
The efforts of the World Community to combat global warming are analyzed. The results of the implementation by the countries of the world of the conditions of the Kyoto Protocol and the possibility of fulfilling the Paris Agreement on Climate Protection signed in December 2015 are considered.
