This monograph deals with publicism of the Russian magazines “Vestnik Evropy” and “Russkoe bogatstvo” in the First World War period. It pays special attention to the magazines’ debates about the nature of war, relations between the government and society, the historical fate of autocracy and democracy in Russia. As the political and social-economic problems that caused the revolutionary explosion in 1917, are not solved until now, the issues raised by the pre-revolutionary publicists, have not lost their relevance.
