The work is one of the first attempts in the Belarusian cultural scholarship to study national artistic world picture and its basic symbols in the process of their functioning and influence on the cultural system. The notion of basic symbols is introduced here for the first time. The role of these symbols and their dynamics in various historical forms of artistic world picture is reflected, their relation to the national cultural peculiarities is analyzed, typology of basic symbols of the Belarusian artistic world picture is studied.
