A new book by Ufa historians V. A. Ivanov and V. A. Zlygostev is devoted to the problem of the existence of Bashkortostan (Bashkir yurt) as part of the Gold of the Horde (Ulus Jochi). For more than two hundred years (1236-1437) Bashkiria, despite its remoteness from the center of the state, was an important part of the nomadic empire. Using an integrated approach to the analysis of written sources, including not only official chronicles, but also genealogies (shezhere) and historical legends of the Bashkirs, as well as materials obtained as a result of archaeological research, the authors in a popular form highlight the events that took place in the South Urals and in adjacent areas during the XIII-XV centuries.
