The monograph contains full publication of the materials dated Early Iron Age – Early Middle Ages of the 5 barrow sepulchers (11 barrows) and one detached barrow of the piedmont Chechnya. Based on the analysis of the archaeological data from the explored barrows and comparison of this data with the inventory from the monuments of the mountain dwellers of Central Ciscaucasia and information from the Nart epic and ethnographical data, the book studies processes of interaction of the local and nomadic cultures in the Vth century B.C. – IVth century A.D., the results of this interaction and its role in the history of the population of Zaterechye in the late Scythian and Sarmat periods.
