The book is devoted to the situation in Europe and, particularly, in Lithuania in the post-war years. More than 60000 of Lithuanians had no houses and almost nothing to eat. They lived in barracks on the territories of former camps in Lithuania. In order to survive they tried to join their efforts and organized a kind of D.P. (Displaced People) community with its own political, social and cultural institutions. The author of the book gives an overview of social life of Lithuanian D.P., describes its architectural and cultural heritage.
