The main body of the monograph analyzes in detail the buildings of 24 monetary institutions, which the author divided into three categories - state, private/foreign and smaller monetary institutions. This was done according to the primary architectural characteristics of their administrative and business buildings, according to which state ones are characterized by the most academic-historicist architecture, private ones by a somewhat freer step towards the influences of Art Deco, Expressionism and Modernism, while the main feature of smaller monetary institutions is their reduced spatial dimensions and the influence of various stylistic influences. This study represents a valuable research undertaking of equal interest to architects, art historians, sociologists, businessmen and bankers. By systematizing the architectural buildings between the two world wars in the field of a comprehensive analysis of monetary institution buildings, which have so far been researched and published exclusively as rare monographic presentations of individual buildings or analyzed within the framework of works dealing with the works of certain architects or particular phenomena in Serbian architecture. Therefore, this scientific research sheds new light on the phenomenon of banking architecture and its role in forming the business-financial spirit and social context of interwar Belgrade.
