The book is written on the basis of valuable written sources, as well as epigraphic material. This Arabographic material, in its entirety, shows that the ethno-toponym Avar, from where, by the way, "Avaristan" comes, has existed in the mountains of Dagestan for about one and a half thousand years, and materials of East Caucasian origin from the 15th century. Even in the pre-Mongol era, the borders of Avaristan extended to the western shore of the Caspian Sea. The capital was always in the zone of distribution of the Avar speech. Accordingly, the speech acquires the status of a "national language". The author recognizes the blood relationship of the Avar khans (XVIII-XIX centuries) with the pre-Islamic leaders of Sarir-Avar, but notes that the real khan’s genealogy goes only back to the beginning of the 16th century. Author: Aitberov Timur Magomedovich is candidate of Historical Sciences.
