Nikolai Gochev is a Bulgarian professor of Old Greek literature and classical antiquity at Sofia University. He was born in Sofia in 1964. On his father's side he is linked to Thrace, and on his mother's side, to Macedonia. In 1983 Gochev finished the National School of Ancient Languages and Cultures in Sofia, and in 1993 he graduated from the University of Athens. He authored the books "Ancient Hermeticism", "Alexandria: Stories about Books, People and Cities", "Classical and Modern Essays on the Theory of Old Greek Literature", "Letters to Aegina", "The Fantastic in Antiquity", "Alexandria II", and "Old Greek Literature". He has translated "Corpus Hermeticum", "Antigone" by Sophocles and "Metaphysics" by Aristotle.
