The collected materials of the international conference “At the Beginnings of Russian Statehood” deal with relevant and moot points of historical and archaeological studies of ancient Rus of the IXth-XVth centuries. The conference had to summarize the results of a 30-year research of Rurik’s Gorodishche, the first princely residence of the new dynasty in the Russian North.
