The book, written in the genre of memoirs, covers the events that took place in Kazakhstan from the second half of the 50s of the XX century to the present time. The author reveals complex problems of history, including the earlier period, using a wide source base and literature. Various aspects of the activity of higher educational institutions and state bodies are affected. A distinctive feature of the book is that its seperate sections, in particular, devoted to ethnopolitical processes, the role of nomads in the development of world culture, the events of December 1986, the reasons for the collapse of the USSR,can be considered as independent studies.
