Grigory Vasilyevich Vasiliev (Soroka) (1823–1864) was a student of Alexei Gavrilovich Venetsianov (1780–1847), one of the most mysterious artists of Russian painting, since his life and work are still very incompletely described. This book is an attempt to bring together all previously known information about him and supplement it with those discovered in recent years.
