From the prospect of Canadian researcher Donna Orwin, philosophical deliberations are constitutive for the works of Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910). Her study of Tolstoy’s views in the 1850 – 1870s, based on the material of his central works of this period, for instance, autobiographical trilogy, “Sevastopol Sketches”, “The Cossacks”, “War and Peace”, and “Anna Karenina” aims to reconstruct the ideas which underlay his writings in the periods of adolescence and maturity.
