The book presents Ibn Fadlan's "Travel Notes", written during his trip to Volga Bulgaria as part of the embassy of Caliph al-Muqtadir in 921-922. The text is valuable because, firstly, it is the first translation of Ibn Fadlan’s “Travel Notes” into the Tatar language; secondly, B. Urmanche prepared it for publication in the late 1960s, i.e. when the negative attitude of the Soviet state towards Tatar history still remained.
