The work sheds light on few key questions of the Armenian colony in Constantinople, such as the formation of the colony in the Ottoman capital, spiritual administrative description of the Armenian patriarchy in Constantinople, the place of the Armenian community in the Ottoman traditional society. Particularly the publication dwells on the problems of the population size of the colony, the history of churches, patriarch's powers competence, social and economic life of the Armenian community, the tax system, etc. The author also dwells on the questions of Armenian religious spiritual centers – Ejmiadzin and Cilicia catholicates and the Jerusalem patriarchy with Constantinople patriarchy.
