Not much has been written about the Soviet armored vehicles despite that fact that from 1927 to 1945 the Soviet Union had produced about 15000 of light- and middleweight armored vehicles of different types, which were used in the Red Army up to the 1950s. The production of armored vehicles was closely connected with the development of automobile industry. Naturally, their cross-country ability left much to be desired in spite of the fact that a number of the armored vehicles constructed in the 1930 were considered to be the best examples of armored automobiles on special chassis.
