The Arctic Legal Encyclopedia is based primarily on the Collection of legal documents on the status of the Arctic, prepared by scholars of the MGIMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and the Russian International Affairs Council in 2011-2012, published in 2013 in Russian (Arctic Region: Problems of International Cooperation: Textbook: In 3 vol. Т. 3: Applicable Legal Sources / Ed. by I.S. Ivanov; ed. by A.N. Vylegzhanin. М., 2013. - 661 с.). This book was translated into Chinese in 2015 and published in the People's Republic of China. On such a scientific platform, in 2019 the collection of legal documents on the Arctic was supplemented and updated in the book published in Switzerland (in English): Berkman P., Vylegzhanin A., Young O. Baseline of Russian Arctic Laws. Springer, 2019. XXXIX - 734 p. In preparing this “Arctic Legal Encyclopedia”, the list of sources constituting the status of the North Polar region, especially in terms of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and the documents of the Arctic Council, has been updated and enriched again.
