Elena Ulanovsky was born in Russia (during the time of the Former Soviet Union. She grew up in Ukraine, and then immigrated to Israel, later moving to the States. Her life journey inspired her to become a writer and provided her with a lot of material for her books. With the goal of improving her skills, she took classes at UMass Lowell, the Film School at MassArt Boston, and an extended production course in NYC Film Academy. Her novels were published in “The New Review” (New York) and Israeli magazines during 2003-2016. Her debut book “Palms from the Asphalt” was published in 2016. Writing screenplays led Elena to produce two documentaries featuring her own scripts: "Russian, the Tough Language,” screened on Israeli TV in 2009 (in Russian) and “From Russia with Math,” created in Boston in 2013—both directed by Alexander Kaplan. Her play “Nemesis” and screenplay “Hebrew for two” are now in production in Israel.
