The book is devoted to the 1917-1918 years in the history of Romania. These turbulent years at the end of World War I were characterized by acquisition of new territories that happened through the reunification of Romanian state with Bessarabia, Bukovina and Transilvania. The title contains a prehistory of the above events and demographic description of the population living in the newly-unified regions. All political events, diplomatic negotiations and behind-the-stage plots surrounding the process of reunification are thoroughly described and analyzed by the authors. The authors also examine international circumstances preceeding Bolshevik invasion and annexation of Bukovina and Bessarabia by the USSR in 1940.
