The study presented in the monograph is based on archaeological excavations and is an analysis of the anthropological composition of the population of cities that existed in Belarus and the European part of Russia in the XI-XIX centuries. The comparison of materials on urban centers and rural districts allowed to reconstruct the specifics of the settlement of individual regions and urban settlements in different historical epochs, to identify the origins of the formation of the physical type of population at different stages of urban development. The dynamics of development of anthropological complexes is presented taking into account various socio-economic, foreign policy, cultural conditions, which are associated with the emergence and formation of cities in Belarus and the European part of Russia in the XI-XIX centuries.
