The valuable collection built by the artist Antanas Tamosaitis during the interwar period is housed in various Lithuanian museums and is comprised of a great variety of folk art artefacts from all of Lithuania’s ethnographic regions and a rich archive (containing manuscripts and photographs from the period of 1927–1938: ethnographic images of independent Lithuania on glass plate and celluloid negatives, drawings of furniture and sketches of folk costume designs from the 1930s). The collection is an important testimony of Lithuanian cultural identity.
