Andrejs Dandzbergs (1941-1996) is the renowned figure in Latvia. For a long time his life had been connected with sea. When he was the head of a collective farm 'Sovetskii Rybolov' he was elected the delegate for the All-Union Congress ( the supreme policy-making body in the former USSR), where he for the first time raised a question about independence of Latvia. Later on he became the Minister of Naval Affairs of the Republic of Latvia.
