The book contains little-known works devoted to clarifying the question of who exactly was the author of the novel "Quiet Flows the Don". The first half of the book presents the works and materials of M.T. Mezentsev and A.A. Zayats, pioneers of the theme of authorship, written in the early - mid-1990s. The second part of the book publishes chapters of the work of the famous Rostov historian A.V. Venkov, which were not included in his monograph on the problem of authorship at one time, and touching on a special topic - the connection of the writer Mikhail Sholokhov from the first stages of his biography with the Chekists.
