The prayer of Avinu Malkeinu (Our Father, our King) refers to Isaiah's prophecy (Isa. 11:12). This predicts that the Lord will gather His people again in the Promised Land, after they have been scattered to all corners of the world. Centuries of historical experience of the Jewish people have shown that this prayer is timeless. The Czech Jewish journalist and writer Frantishek R. Kraus chose the introductory verse of this prayer as the summary title for his collection of chronologically arranged autobiographical reports on the Holocaust.
