This is the first broad survey of ancient bronze art from northwestern Siberia and the Urals, dating from around 500 BC to the late Middle Ages and that is generally unknown outside of Russia. The book also covers equally unfamiliar but artistically striking ritual and other ethnographic objects made by indigenous peoples across Siberia during the eighteenth to the beginning of the twentieth century. The book includes information concerning the historical background, fabrication and uses of objects selected from museum and private collections and specialized Russian publications, documented by more than 300 mostly color illustrations.
