"An awkward place" is a joint project by publicist Jonathan Littell and photographer Antoine D'Agata about Babi Yar, historical memory and Russian war crimes in Ukraine in the 2000s. The manuscript of the book was completed two days before Russia's attack on Ukraine. In November 2022, Littell returned to the text to rewrite it in accordance with the new reality, in which Bucha had already happened, the occupation of Mariupol and new crimes of the Russian military in Ukraine are becoming known every day. Antoine D'Agata's photographs make the book a real artifact. The book is published in a limited edition of 3,000 and will not be reprinted in this format. Translated from French.
