The book reveals some of the secrets of the US special services concerning Bulgaria. It sheds light on the social, political, ideological and departmental history of the US intelligence community's work on Bulgaria. Drawing on recently discovered archival material, the author debunks old concepts and stereotypes, corrects theories and gets some names straight. Based on an analysis of intelligence documentation, he shows the course of the communication process in intelligence and counterintelligence work, from the acquisition and processing of information to the making of adequate, pragmatic decisions.
