The Soviet Union is counting down the last days of its existence, and Mikhail Gorbachev instructs a KGB spy embedded in Paris to search for an old Persian treatise on a metaphor - he believes that through this lost manuscript he will be able to save the doomed empire. The turn of history will not escape Gorbachev, instead, the spy shares those untouched, unrecognizable words, whose mysterious land has not haunted him all his life and which will gain an outrageous fortune and absolute power in one former Soviet republic.
