The publication dwells on the creative work of Alexander Grigoryevich Tyshler, a painter, graphic artist, master of decorative art, one of the founders of the unofficial avant-garde of the XXth century. His works can be characterized by romantic metaphorical images, ornamentality and expressiveness of color. The original style of Tyshler combines lyrical expression with surreal grotesque which was formed at the beginning of the 1920’s.
