Aghvan MKhitaryan's memory was impressed by his kindergarten in Marash, where he decided to sculpt "Sasuntsi David" from plasticine one day during plastering class. In his early teenage years, he often visited the sculptor Nurijanyan's studio in Marash and made his first sculpture experiments with clay. Being familiar with the works of many ancient, Renaissance and modern sculptors, Yervand Kochar's "David of Sassoon" monument was and remains a high standard for Mkhitaryan. Mkhitaryan approaches the characters he creates with great responsibility, especially the sculptures and monuments. As a result of the study, monumental work "The Lion of Marash" was created, the basis of which is the reproduction of the lion sculpture on the Cilicia fortress wall of the "Marash" state in the 11th century BC, which was made directly on the stone. In the portraits, despite his great respect for the figure, some of whom are his friends in arms, he does not resort to the external pathos of idealization. The all-round recognition and study of the hero is outstanding. Spontaneous approaches of the sculptor can be seen in the works of small size. in some sculptures, despite their size, there is a sense of moment.
