The monograph, based on archival and published sources, restores the main aspects of the activities of the Taurian civilian governors of the first half of the 19th century. This is the first attempt in historiography to comprehensively consider the process of incorporation of the Tauride into the Russian Empire. A new look at the features of socio-economic development of the region in the period under review is presented.
