The book offered to readers is devoted to the main activities of the Geological Committee in the study of the territory of the European North of Russia. Using an extensive set of archival sources and published works of scientists, the history and results of expeditionary research carried out by employees of the Geolcom during the functioning of the organization (1882-1929) are examined. The reasons and circumstances of the organization of expeditions, their results, the course of scientific work, living conditions and difficulties that accompanied scientists on scientific trips to the North are analyzed. The publication is designed to point out the importance of the role of the Geological Committee in the development of the European North of Russia.
