The book is an adventure story of cousins Lada and Stane just before the Second World War in a two-week, more than a thousand kilometers long cycling journey through Central Europe. Author Janez Pirc, Ladov grandson, reconstructed in this literary document the journey of young men who, in the summer of 1937 (the last summer before the anus), went on a two-week cycling after the work of the then Dravska banovina, after Austria and the corner of Germany. The story depicts the personal circumstances of their excursion and presents the places along the way, as they were at that time, and compare them with today's situation. During their journey, the cyclist visited the provincial capitals, such as Klagenfurt, Graz and Salzburg, met with the metropolitan life of Vienna, and the roads took them through a number of at least seemingly idyllic alpine villages and places along the Danube.
