Soon after the Revival, people began to talk about supposedly inappropriate, incorrect words that need to be replaced by others, as well as about words that change their meaning and its shades. The majority of such words under consideration are related to the designation of persons of one or another social group. The words invalid, pensioner, gypsy, negro - sometimes they are often used in a derogatory sense, some of them have such a meaning in other languages, which are not suitable for the Lithuanian language. In the public speech, in the mass media, the word villager appears primarily in slang, and soon in the public speech as a generalized meaning of dark, retarded, uneducated. The ideas of language revision were also encouraged by the ideology of political correctness, the manifestations of which became more evident in the Baltic countries at the end of the 20th - the beginning of the 21st century.
