The book by historian Miloslav Szabo provides authentic contemporary testimonies and shows that today's controversy over abortion cannot be separated from the controversies that stretched throughout the 20th century.

Miloslav Szabo brings a brief history of abortions from the Old Testament through Roman law, the anti-abortion policy of Austria-Hungary, the Slovak state and the period of communism to the statements of the publicist Hanus or the priest Kuffa. It draws from various sources - it quotes Jozef Tisa, Vojtech Tuk, priests, reporters of the periodical press, pediatricians and Trnava workers. The book is supplemented by reproductions of period photographs, paintings and documents.
