The book by Oleg Peskov, a known Moscow student of local lore, deals with the life of Aleksandr Pokrovskii, one of outstanding Russian library scientists, and with the work of his "child" - Nekrasov Central City Public Library. Founded in 1919, the first Central Library of Moscow managed to win the status of scientific methodological center on library work for state mass libraries of the capital. The author recreated the history of the architectural monument of the XVIII c. "House of Saltykova on Bronnaia", where the library has been situated since 1955.
