In the novel by the poet and essayist V.Aristov, despite fantastic elements of some plots one can notice echo of the events that took place in Russia in the 1990s. The main character finds him in the situation when every day he has to take decisions on which not only his, but other people’s life depends. Becoming a “prophet of Russia on his state service”, he feels rather like a beggar-prophet than an official. He is searching for inner freedom and his own way out from all the trials.
