The authors of the monograph for the first time in Russian historiography made an attempt to study the specific character of socio-demographical processes in the cities of Western Siberia in the pre-reform epoch. The research work was carried out on the basis of the wide range of statistical sources. This book includes articles concerning the dynamics of the number of the regional and city population, as well as its territory distribution. The main directions in development of the demographical processes and changes of birth, death and nuptiality rates are also revealed. The detailed analysis of the ratio of social classes of the population is given.
