The book by Jonas Mekas is, in fact, memoirs done by the author, it describes his life in Lithuania during the succession of occupations, first by Communist Russia, then by Nazis Germany. Mekas recalls the life during occupations, comparing them and telling about the struggle of Lithuanian patriots against both of them. The book is supplemented with the series of documents and photographs that enables the readers to feel the atmosphere of those remote years more clearly.
