Nazir from Durgeli, a Muslim scientist, wrote the history of the development of Islam in Dagestan at the end of the 1920s – the beginning of the 1930s. He collected 230 biographies of scientists of the Xth-XXth centuries (Arabs, Avars, Azerbaijanis, Dargin people, Kumyks, Laks, Lezgians, and Chechens). The book tells about their fates and works on Islamic law, theology, Sufi ethics, astronomy, medicine, Arabic grammar and poetry.
