Elmar Vrager (1916–1998) was an Estonian poet, journalist and pedagogue. After going into exile in 1944, the Hiiumaa teacher became an archivist, a custodian of Hiiumaa culture and an educator of Estonian children in Sweden. He has published three collections of poetry. Elmar Vrager's handwritten Hiiumaa dialect dictionary is kept in Stockholm. He actively contributed to both Estonian and Estonian-Swedish newspapers and magazines, and discussed historical events and cultural issues. These are the topics represented in the articles collected in his volume "Estonian Thought History". The publication of the book has been supported by the Ministry of Education and Research, the Cultural Endowment of Estonia and the Estonian Thought Foundation.
