The intertwining of the fates of [businessman and former politician] Pavol Rusko and [businessman and mobster] Marian Kocner is symbolic for the period after the Velvet Revolution, when everyone in "higher circles" knew everyone. It is a time of dizzying careers of individuals who got rich quickly and lost their wealth even faster, and often their own lives. Like all my books from this period, this one is a media image of the time. It does not claim that the events took place as described, but that they were reported in this way by the media. In the mirror of contemporary and contemporary media, we first follow the story of a young ambitious man who in many ways influenced events in Slovakia to end up with a virtual prison ball on his feet in anticipation of the fate of impending charges and lawsuits. The second "hero" of this book is his college classmate, who was with the first in various disputes for decades to finally bring them together in court. This duo of entrepreneurs is therefore also a lesson that steep careers on the edge of elemental morals and laws lead to even steeper falls.
