The period between the two world wars was one of the most productive stages in the development of Bulgarian literature. The second volume of the reader presents model texts alongside writings which give a better idea about the technology of the literary process and the standards of creative writing at the time. Some of the texts define typological fields of meaning such as the reconceptualization of the classical literary and cultural opposition of "us and them", the updating of the image of the Motherland, the rethinking of genre, the war of literary movements, and the definition and revision of the notion of modernity.
