The book explores various folk customs from the Renaissance, such as "Prestupulka" (The first steps of a young child are a big holiday in the life of the family), customs at birth, killing a wolf, fire, customs of St. Elijah and St. George, the attitude of the people to magic, customs to guests, old trees and birds, children's entertainment and sayings. A number of folk songs from the Kyustendil region from the 19th century are included. Special attention is paid to the relations and problems between Bulgarians and Turks in the region, farms and cafes.
