The author briefly examines the archaeological materials presented by M.V. Kryukova, N.V. Safronova, N.I. Cheboksarova and others, based on them, sets out her version of the origin of the Dungan-Huihui and comes to the conclusion that they are a very ancient people with their own original history of about 5 thousand years. The author focuses on the ancient Chinese chronicles and chronicles, the medieval Chinese chronicle of Tunzan Ganmu translated into Russian by N.Ya. Bachurin. The author uses in his researches travel records, diaries and reports of Russian travelers of the 19th century. V.P. Vasilyeva, N. Aristova, G.S. Grum-Grzhimailo, P.I. Kafarov (Palladium) and others. The author confirms the opinion of the Russian scientist S.I. Toruka that the Huihui Dungans are a people of complex ethnogenesis. The author relies on the opinion of Russian and Kyrgyz scientists G.G. Stratanovich, Kh.Yu. Yusurova, M.Ya. Sushanlo and others.
If G.G. Stratanovichi Kh.Yu. The Yusurs were considered the ancestors of the Dungan Togons (Tuigo), and according to M. Ya Sushanlo, their ancestors are the Tanguts, the author puts forward that the main component of the Dungan Huihui are the Qiangs, which are mentioned by Chinese sources. Only then, the ancestors of the Dungan-Huihui are the Chinese, Xiongnu, Xianbei (Mongols), Persians, Arabs, Uighurs, etc.
