The monograph consists of short studies on the highest achievement of the Ukrainian culture - lyrics and poems by Taras Shevchenka. The aim of the essays is to prove scientifically the unsurpassed artistry and skill of Shevchenka's poetry and at the same time to show the machinery of functioning of a literary work, its specific artistic organization, owing to which the work can be considered a literary event. The system approach used by the authors to the analysis of a poetic work as a whole can be used for a scientific and literary-esthetic interpretation of a poetic text - belonging to Shevchenka or to any other author.
