Andrei Bely Prize founded in 1978 by the editorship of “The Clock” samizdat journal is the first independent literary prize in Russia. Presently it is awarded in four nominations (“Poetry”, “Prose”, “Humanitarian Studies”, “For the Distinguished Merits in Development of the Russian Literature”) and is considered to be the most prestigious Russian literary prize. The anthology contains texts by 63 prize laureates, as well as brief bibliographic information on their authors.
