There considered problems of adaptation of Russians to native condi¬tions, their contribution into preserving and development of the Russian culture in the counties they arrived at. There shown specific features of economy, demographic situation, and national traditions in material culture, family life and family rites. Special attention is paid to characteristic of cultural contacts of the Russians with American inhabitants.
In the monograph there used materials of expedition observations and archive investigations. Unique documents and rare photos are published.
